Linnet (Lin) Turnbull and Philip (Phil) Dowle
We sold our lifestyle (100 acres) farm late 2023 when we retired and went overseas for 4 months. We’ve now returned and are looking to put our skills and experience to work as Farm or Housesitters, while we await completion of renovations to the house we bought in Newcastle, NSW. Estimated to be end 2025 if we are lucky.
We both grew up on dairy farms then spent our adult / family-raising years in Sydney. The last 10 years were on our farm on the mid-north coast of NSW.
Small herd of beef cattle, horses, chickens, dogs, ducks, fruit trees, house garden, and a cat. Water for animals and pasture from a large dam, from which water was pumped to troughs in paddocks; house had rainwater tanks, septic sewage, and LPG gas for cooking. Slow-combustion wood heating.
Phil was a maths teacher, and Lin a registered nurse. Phil is fully competent in farm management and operations – fencing, slashing, animal husbandry, machinery maintenance and operation, pest and vermin control. Lin is the capable and reliable support team, and a sought-after dog sitter.
We prefer longer housesits and can cover any time of the year. We travel with our own Border Collie (Dewey), aged 9 at the time of writing. He has his own referees! We drive a diesel Toyota Prado, which can handle all terrains. We would need onsite accommodation
