Most of the island is under nature protection. and the largest national park is Flinders Chase National Park. The island is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, anglers, snorkelers and divers. It can be reached either by plane from Adelaide or by car ferry from Cape Jervis.
The main town is Kingscote, 60 km from Penneshaw and 117 km from Flinders Chase National Park.
