IRONICALLY THEIR APPLICATIONS WERE APPROVED BUT NOT UNTIL THEY HAD WAITED ALMOST 4 YEARS T BE PROCESSED.
We are Laura and Andy, retired Teacher and Civil Engineer, from Scotland. We like to travel and explore. We are active loving to walk and cycle.
We have a son and his girlfriend in Sydney and expect that we will be visiting Australia regularly in the future. We spent 7 weeks in Australia in early 2023 with a 3 week road trip from Brisbane to Port Douglas and the rest of the time in and around Sydney with a few lovely days in Hunter valley.
Before children and before Laura returned to work after children we would regularly look after the dogs of family and friends. Typically the dogs would come and stay with us but on a few occasion we stayed at their houses. Often this also entailed looking after a cat and/or hamster/rabbit. The dogs we looked after included labs, spaniels, rough collie, otter hound, retriever, border collies, yorkies, German short haired pointers. We can obtain references from all of these experiences.
We also had our own, beloved dog Izzi. She was a working cocker and she had a lovely life enjoying our active lives. You can see some of her photos here:

OUR PLANS
It’s unlikely that we will be in Oz in 2024 however we anticipate an extended stay early in 2025. I (Andy) am planning a cycle tour in South East Asia at the end of 2024 into 2025. We expect that Laura will head to Sydney early 2024 and that I will join her after I reach Bangkok. An extended stay could be 6-8 weeks.
Our son and his girlfriend live in Maroubra and both work off hours, each having their own business. At this stage they are not well established to have a home which can “entertain” us so we are looking at a cost effective way which allows us to have an extended stay – hence house and/or pet sitting.
